Once you're happy with our proposal and quotation for your site, we're all set begin. Our first step is to consider
the design of the site. Bearing in mind your specifications we will create or modify key graphical
elements of the site such as logos, button bars, banners, watermarks and backgrounds. We will also
create a style sheet, which will dictate how all text content including hyperlinks, headers and notes
will be displayed.
After this is completed we usually allow a viewing and feedback period where you
can see how your site will look and feel; the impression it will give to users. Small changes can
then be effected before the content of the site is developed.
In some cases it can be useful to break the design phase into two seperate stages,
first creating the skeleton of two or three styles before allowing you to chose which is
most suitable before developing it. This may, depending on the complexity of the site, incur extra hours and a commensurate
increase in price. Remember that we're flexible;
should you require substantial additions at any stage we're more than happy to accomodate
these, often by quoting for a site upgrade.
Should you have any queries about the exact services for which we charge in either the
design, content or management phases of the process, please refer to our
pricing.
Content is usually delineate by the following groups, some of which are seen by the end user,
others which are not:
 |
Text - static information to be read by the end-user which will appear as dictated by the
created style on the relevant pages. |
 |
Code - the 'nuts and bolts' programing of the site which further modifies display apects
or provides simple functionality including dynamic content. |
 |
Graphics - static pictures including photos, cartoons and non-functional animations |
 |
Applications - web-software e.g. database-driven content and management systems. Some
applications may be available in 'off-the-shelf' form, requiring only small modification |
 |
Data Input - importing and/or converting generic
data or existing databases for use within the website |
Remember that your involvement can, where agreed, reduce our workload and hence
the price of the site during content creation. Allowances are then made in the schedule for testing and further feedback.
It is normal that these processes will incur some modification.
Often, once we've uploaded the site to your webspace (we can also supply hosting and domain-name registration)
then our involvement is over until you require an upgrade.
